Brookfield Board of Education Appoints Stephen Foresi as Superintendent of Schools

The Brookfield Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Stephen Foresi as the next Superintendent of Schools, effective February 9th, 2026.

Mr. Foresi brings nearly three decades of experience in Connecticut public education and currently serves as Assistant Superintendent in Newington Public Schools. He has a strong record of instructional leadership, collaborative decision making and operational planning and management. In recognition of his leadership, he was named 2025 Personnel Administrator of
the Year by the Connecticut Association of School Personnel Administrators (CASPA).

Mr. Foresi holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master of Science in Educational Technology from the University of Hartford, as well as degrees in Educational Administration and Supervision and Executive Leadership from the University of Connecticut.

The Brookfield community, including parents, students, teachers, and administrators, played an integral role in the Superintendent search process through participation in focus groups and responses to a community survey. Feedback gathered during this process informed the Search Committee’s work throughout the advertising, screening, and interview phases.

The Board of Education conducted a nationwide search that attracted a strong pool of candidates. After interviewing six applicants, the Board selected three finalists who participated in multiple rounds of interviews. Following this rigorous process, Mr. Foresi was unanimously chosen to lead the Brookfield Public Schools.

We as a Board are very excited about this new era for our Schools and for our Community. Mr. Foresi brings a vast amount of experience and knowledge to Brookfield and we are very excited for him to get started. It was a long and thorough process, but the search committee’s efforts proved well worth it in bringing Mr. Foresi here to Brookfield. As Mr. Foresi expressed last night during our meeting, he is eager to meet everyone and to begin the work he was brought here to do.

Throughout his career, Mr. Foresi has demonstrated a deep commitment to learner-centered environments, professional growth, and organizational effectiveness. His leadership experience includes service as an elementary principal, assistant principal, and director of human capital development, as well as experience teaching and preparing future educators. Known for his collaborative approach, dedication to mentoring and developing staff, and focus on continuous improvement, Mr. Foresi is well positioned to build on Brookfield’s strengths while partnering with staff, families, and the broader community to support student success.
