Beyond the Classroom

 

Whisconier Middle School recognizes the importance of providing students with multiple opportunities for success both in and out of the classroom.  As such, the numerous extra-curricular sports, clubs, and organizations we offer are intended to enhance our students’ overall positive experiences during their four years at WMS.

Spring Sports

  • Girls Track 
  • Boys Track 

Practices are held twice a week and the teams compete against area schools.

 

Winter Sports

  • Boys Varsity Basketball 
  • Girls Varsity Basketball  

Practices are held twice a week and the teams compete against area schools.

 

Fall Sports

  • Cross Country 
  • Boys Soccer 
  • Girls Soccer 
  • Girls Field Hockey 

Practices are held twice a week and the teams compete against area schools.

 

Student Council 

Student Council is a great place for students to come together to share ideas, interests, and concerns with one another to better the school and the community in which they live. Through student council, students can learn to develop leadership skills that will help them succeed in and around the school. Through various events, within the school year, students learn to give back to the community and learn that a little kindness can go a long way.

Ruler Crew

RULER Crew is a club that focuses on creating a positive school environment where everyone feels welcome and encouraged.

Band/Chorus

Band and Chorus meets during the students’ corrective time, and individual band lessons are given in addition to the corrective time meetings. Students perform in two concerts, Winter and Spring.

Math Counts

MathCounts is a supplementary math program that seeks to encourage interest, achievement, and excellence among middle school students. Students weekly throughout the school year. It is from the participants that the team is selected. The team represents Whisconier Middle School at the regional state.

Science Club

The Science Club members will further their understanding of science at Whisconier and in the Brookfield community.

Chess Club

The Chess Club is open to all students (advanced to beginner) and meets on Wednesdays from 2:45 to 4:00.

Literary Magazine

Students submit a variety of writings from poetry to short stories to be published at the end of the year.

Student Newspaper

Students report on the current events and happenings at Whisconier and publish a quarterly newspaper.

Yearbook

The yearbook committee consists of a select group of hardworking and creative 8th-grade students.  These students are in charge of every aspect of creating the WMS yearbook including advertising sales, design, photography, and distribution. The end result is a book of memories that the WMS community can be proud of.
